Black Voices Blog: Moviemaker: Chrysler Salutes Spike Lee's Work Behind The Lens -- "So 'Inside Man' was my most commercial film ever. Worldwide, including DVD sales, over $200 million. So when you're told all of the time that you haven't had a film over $100 million – which used to be considered a blockbuster, now its more – once you reach that, and 'Inside Man' only cost $49 million, it's a huge hit. Usually Denzel gets $20 million a film alone. So you get him, Jodie Foster and Clive Owen at $49 million, you're getting a bargain. So that success put me at a delusional state where I thought, oh I'm in there now," the 51-year-old filmmaker said." - Thanks, Steph

Digital Spy: Spike Lee has revealed that he is working on a sequel to hit 2006 movie Inside Man. The film, which starred Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster, centred on a tough cop who becomes involved in a hostage situation when he tries to thwart a bank robber's plans. He told Hollyscoop that original writer Russell Gewirtz is currently finishing the script and Clive Owen is already attached to star. - Thanks, "RPH QT"

LA Times: The Great Movie Capers - "Inside Man" -- There are several potent reasons why this 2006 crime thriller is Spike Lee's biggest commercial hit -- it boasts a sharp, clever script from newcomer Russell Gewirtz, spot-on performances from the likes of Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foster and exhilarating direction from Lee. The only flaw is the fact that the Owen's handsome face is covered throughout most of the film. - Thanks, Steph

TopGear.com: On the windswept south side of Jonathan Palmer's Bedford Autodrome, Clive Owen is pounding around in a track-tough Jaguar XKR. This particular circuit has some complex corners and a high-speed fourth-gear number, during which the driver's cojones - not to mention the Jag's tyres - are severely tested. But it seems that Clive is not in the mood to back off. "On a group day," one of the instructors tells me, "a 1min 9sec lap would win the event. He's doing 1min 10s right now. Clive clearly doesn't have issues with speed. Or commitment." Or, for that matter, changing gear. It's a metaphor he himself has used to describe the twists and turns his career has taken on the road to his current, undeniable status as a leading man. Five minutes in his company is all it takes to establish that this is an unusually grounded Hollywood player. The tan is not easy to come by in the British Isles, but the attitude is definitely closer to Coventry than California.... - Thanks, Steph

Variety: Giamatti joins 'Duplicity' cast -- "Giamatti, who is toplining the seven-part HBO miniseries based on the David McCullough book, has been set by director Tony Gilroy to join Julia Roberts, Clive Owen and Tom Wilkinson in the Gilroy-scripted film for Universal. Giamatti will play an industrialist engaged in a fierce game of corporate one-upmanship against a rival titan, played by Wilkinson (who plays Benjamin Franklin in "John Adams"). Roberts and Owen play two spies-turned-corporate operatives who work on opposite sides but are having a clandestine love affair. Billy Bob Thornton had been in talks for the businessman role." - Thanks, Steph

Cambridge News: Elywood may be best location -- "The cathedral was the main external location for the film Elizabeth: The Golden Age, where the cast and crew spent 11 days on site filming some key scenes in the summer of 2006. It saw some of Hollywood's biggest stars, including Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush and Clive Owen, rub shoulders with many Ely residents who were recruited as extras.

The UK Express: Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary -- A movie about Mary’s life, starring Scarlett Johansson, has been delayed because producers can’t find a suitable actor to play her third husband, the Earl of Bothwell. In real life, Mary had problems with men, one in particular, her second husband, Lord Darnely, who burst into her room in the Palace of Holyrood House, threatened her and murdered her secretary, David Riccio. Among those said to be in the running for the Bothwell role, are Clive Owen, Robert Carlyle and James McAvoy. - Thanks, Steph

The Hollywood Reporter: Sponsors rev up for Argentine feature -- "While product placement is a tried-and-true cinema tradition, having a car company and advertising firm so closely tied to a feature-length production is almost entirely new. In 2001, BMW and Fallon Worldwide collaborated on the enormously successful series "The Hire," which featured Clive Owen in eight multimillion-dollar shorts directed by such industry icons as Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie and John Frankenheimer, which were released exclusively online. This groundbreaking concept of "advertainment" has since been duplicated, but never in Latin America."

EW.com: Roberts, Owen Reunite for 'Duplicity'

Rediff News: [ Inside Man] -- Sukhvinder also said that he considers Shah Rukh Khan his lucky charm. Though the Khan-starrer Dil Se flopped in India (it was quite a hit abroad), its Chaiyya Chaiyya number became an international hit. Hollywood A-lister Spike Lee was so impressed he used the song for the opening and closing credits of Inside Man, an edgy heist movie that starred Denzel Washington, Clive Owen [Images] and Jodie Foster

Just Jared: Photos on the set of Duplicity - Julia Roberts and Clive Owen head separately to the set of Duplicity to film interior scenes at a pub in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The thriller will be directed by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne franchise, Michael Clayton) and is about a pair of corporate spies who share a steamy past hook up to pull off the ultimate con job. And duplicity, in case you won’t know, means deliberate deceptiveness in behavior or speech. - Thanks, Steph

Gambit7 Live Journal: Close Your Eyes -- As for Clive, well when his character breaks into tears at the prospect of his sister moving away to the U.S. with Sinclair, it’s as if you can sense his entire world is truly collapsing. One begins to understand this as just another interpretation of obsession born of that ever constant revelation that comes with age, that there are very few people in the world with whom we can ever truly be intimate with, if ever, and how difficult and painful it is when that connection is threatened. - Thanks, Steph

GoldCoast.com.au: Meanwhile, the Coast might be getting another taste of Hollywood in September with the Australian-British co-production The Boys Are Back In Town feature film set to start shooting on locations in southern Queensland. British heart-throb Clive Owen is expected to play the lead role in the comic drama which is a co-production from local movie producers Greg Brenman (Billy Elliot) and Tim White (Gettin' Square). - Thanks, Steph
