Julia Roberts and Clive Owen are teaming up for a movie called Duplicity.
Roberts and Owen play corporate spies who try to manipulate which corporation will win. Written and directed by Tony Gilroy (he wrote Michael Clayton)
“At the end of the day, it’s funny, it’s witty, it’s very buoyant and it’s unusual,” says Owen. “It’s a guy and woman who are in love, but they argue a lot and they mistrust each other…as well as being crazy about each other. That lends to a really entertaining experience for the audience.”
3/6/09 - Hollywood Today.net: George Clooney introduced his Michael Clayton director to Clive Owen and recommended Owen for the starring role in Duplicity. “I’d written for Clive in the first Bourne movie, but I hadn’t met him,” says Duplicity writer-director Tony Gilroy. “I’d been watching his work and thought he was just amazing. When George introduced us, I went right away for him for the film.” “I finished the last page of the script and grabbed the phone and called my agent and said, ‘This is the one. This is the script,’” says Duplicity star Clive Owen. “I had a very huge, strong, instinctive response. I thought the writing was brilliant and was very keen to get involved.”

4/11/08 - Duplicity - Spoilers - Latin Review: Script for Duplicity - "There are flashbacks that reveal the true relationship between Ray and Claire (come on, with a title like Duplicity don’t tell me you didn’t see this coming) and in them, I get a sense that Gilroy was going for elements of Closer. And for certain moments, that realism and drama that relies simply on dialogue and two smoldering performances (which Owen and Roberts should be good at this time around) comes across, but then we flash back to a hi-tech spy movie that never really allows you to believe what you see, totally smashing any realism in that relationship." - Thanks, Steph
3/11/08 -- Just Jared: Photos on the set of Duplicity - Julia Roberts and Clive Owen head separately to the set of Duplicity to film interior scenes at a pub in Midtown Manhattan on Monday. The thriller will be directed by Tony Gilroy (The Bourne franchise, Michael Clayton) and is about a pair of corporate spies who share a steamy past hook up to pull off the ultimate con job. And duplicity, in case you won’t know, means deliberate deceptiveness in behavior or speech.
